Saskatchewan Home Renovation Tax Credit

Under this non-refundable tax credit, Saskatchewan homeowners can save up to $2,100 in provincial income tax by claiming a 10.5 per cent tax credit on up to $20,000 of eligible home renovation expenses. Eligible expenses include the cost of water softeners and reverse osmosis systems as well as the labour and professional services to install them.
Does your project qualify?
The following are the main requirements needed for homeowners to claim the tax credit.
Property must be located in Saskatchewan
Must be the homeowner’s primary residence
Total qualified expenses must be in excess of $1,000
Occur between October 1, 2020 and December 31, 2022
Documentation needed
The vendor/contractor and their GST/HST number
The type and amount of goods/services provided
The date in which the payment was made or delivered
Where to make claim
This tax credit will be administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on 2021 and 2022 tax returns as part of the Saskatchewan personal income tax system. CRA will develop the necessary forms and filing instructions in the coming months.
